Advanced Gmail

Open the email in its own window (double click on it) then go to bottom of the email and look for the ‘unsubscribe’ link (often in small text and underlined), click on it to open the Unsubscribe webpage then confirm as required. To block an annoying email sender that does not offer this, open the email and click on the ‘More’ dots in top right. The drop down has several relevant options, just click on one – Block “name of sender” (to move it to Spam and set up a rule), Report Spam, Report Phishing and to undo, find the email in Spam and select Unblock from the More options menu

Click on a folder (Inbox or Promotions) then in the top Search box, type the name of a sender whose messages you want to delete. Click on the small check box of the first then hold down Shift and scroll to the last to select with the check box, then click on Delete. If all of the shown emails are from the same sender click the top select box to select them all then click Delete

Click on ‘Inbox’ folder (or another folder) and click on the small check box to select the email you want to move in the top toolbar click on the folder icon for ‘Move to’ and in the drop down that appears, either type the folder name in the ‘Move to’ box, or click on a named folder to complete the move

Click in the search box at the top and type the name of the contact or words in an email – click the filter icon for more options. Press Enter to complete

In other email programs, you might have stored email in folders. In Gmail, you use labels to categorize your email. Labels are like folders, but with a twist—you can apply several labels to an email, then later find the email by clicking any of its labels from the left panel. To create click on the ‘+’ or the three dots to see ‘Delete’

Click on profile icon ❯ My Google Account ❯ Security, scroll down to ‘How you sign into Google’ and click ‘Password’ – then enter the new password twice

Open Settings (click on cog icon – top right) ❯ ‘See all settings’ ❯ ‘General’ tab and scroll down to ‘Out-of-office AutoReply and select, make changes and click ‘Save Changes’ at the bottom
