Google Maps through a browser (with Google Account sign-in)

Type in the address or post code then choose to go by car, public transport, on foot or by bike. Icons for these options are at the top, try the first ‘Best’ option to compare all

Click on the three horizonal line to see ‘Show side bar’ and click to keep it on

After requesting directions, click on ‘Options’ to avoid motorways, tolls or ferries and set the unit for distance

in the side bar click on ‘Saved’ then ‘Lists’ and add locations to the different lists. Favourites is where you add your most visited places

Open the side bar to show ‘Your timeline’ and click on it to open. Select the year, month and day and see where you went

Click on Recents in the side bar to see where you have been recently
