Set up Yahoo webmail

Go to uk.mail.yahoo.com, click on ‘Create an account’ and follow the steps. Think carefully about the email address you want and try different options. Using your initials and a number will mean a much shorter email but you need to be able to say it clearly. Complete an account page for Yahoo and file in the Tomtie Toolkit

Yahoo is a simple free email and has some fun stationery. The areas to get to know are – The left hand Navigation pane showing from the top; folders (inbox, drafts, sent, spam and trash) then Views (of Photos, Documents, Receipts etc. contained in emails) then Folders – new folders created by you. The Search box is above the main pane, the right hand pane is for Contacts, Calendar, Notes, Help then Settings. See Profile and Home in top right

Click on profile icon ❯ Account info ❯ Security ❯ 2-step verification turn ON and add a second email address, mobile number and if you can the Google authenticator app to your mobile

Open Settings ❯ More Settings ❯ Personalise Inbox and select as needed so Yahoo is easy to read (e.g. Message layout as ‘List’ and Inbox spacing as ‘Large’). For spell check – Go to Settings ❯ More Settings ❯ Writing email – scroll down to ‘Check spelling before sending’ turn ON. This will underline misspelt words in red then, when you click ‘Send’ a box will pop up asking if you want to ‘Review errors’ and misspelt words are highlighted in yellow to be clicked on to see suggestions

Open Settings ❯ More Settings ❯ Writing email ❯ ‘Default rich-text font’ – click on the small triangles to select the font and font size. Changes are saved automatically
