Basic Gmail

Open Settings (click on cog icon – top right) ❯ ‘See all settings’ ❯ ‘General’ tab ❯ Images ❯ select ‘Always display external images’. Scroll down to bottom and click ‘Save Changes’

Click ‘New email’, add one or more email addresses in ‘To’ field and a clearly worded subject in ‘Subject’. Add line breaks as you type so the message is easy to read. To add a photo, emojis, a table or even a Template (once you have set some up), click on the three more options dots ‘…’ on the far right of the top tool bar to see ‘Add-ins’, ‘Insert’ and ‘Options’. Read over the message then click ‘Send’

Open email and click Reply or Reply all. Change subject if useful – click the small arrow with a triangle (the ‘Type of response’ drop down) on the top left of the new message box – click ‘Edit Subject’ then add and/or delete text. For long emails, reply within the received email so it is easier to follow. Gmail will use the default font and font size that you have set. Read over the message then click ‘Send’

In a new email, click in the text area to see the different icons in the tool bar at the bottom. Hover over them to see what they are. Click on the paperclip icon to attach a file from your computer. Browse to the file/s then click ‘Open’ to attach it/them

Click on the photo icon (Insert photo) to see the files on your computer. Browse to the photo or photos you want and click ‘Insert’. The photo will be added to the text area of the email. Click on a photo select and try ‘Small, Best fit, Original size, Edit alt text, Remove before sending the email

Click on the horizontal ‘Insert link’ icon to open the Edit link box then type the text to display, the web address (click ‘Test this link’ if unsure) then click OK
