Add an additional mobile number in Apple ID – Sign-In & Security (for two-factor verification)

If your iPhone is stolen when you are away from home you may wish to buy a new iPhone and set it up. In order to sign-in to your Apple ID on a new iPhone, a 6 digit verification code is sent to your Apple devices or to a phone number. If you do not have access to one of your other apple devices, it is important to have a friends number to receive the code.
