Human interface elements – apps

List of human interface elements in Mac apps: Address bar, Side bar, Scroll bars and Views

Address bar: located at the top of a browser (Safari, Chrome or Edge), it identifies the webpage that is being looked at. e.g. ype ‘bbc.co.uk’ then Enter to go straight to the BBC webpage

Side bar: sits on the left of the main pane in Finder, Safari or other apps with panes e.g. Pages. In Finder it provides shortcuts to commonly used folders and iCloud Drive, devices such as hard drives and more. In Pages it contains controls for modifying your document and in Safari – Bookmarks and Reading List

Scroll bars: These are either a vertical bar on the right side of a window or a horizontal bar at the bottom of a window and ares used to move the window contents up and down or left and right. The bar shows the proportion of the whole that is seen on the screen e.g. for a short webpage the dark grey bar will be long and a long webpage it will be short

Views: In Finder – files and folders can be viewed as Icons, List, Column or Gallery
