Turn on, update, name Mac and restart

Step one: Set language and country

Step two: Accessibility features – decided on vision, motor function, hearing and cognitive function

Step three: Connect to internet – enter WiFi password or have plugged in ethernet cable to the router

Step four: Decide data and Privacy options

Step five: Say no to migration Assistant if using iCloud backup. Migration assistant is where files are copied to a Mac using Time Machine backup or a Startup disk

Step six: Sign in with Apple ID with two factor authentication to access the services

Step seven: Accept Terms and Conditions to use Mac OS

Step eight: Create a Computer Account for the Mac, choose profile picture and add local account password (can be numbers) and a hint

Step nine: Activate ‘Find My Mac’

Step ten: Make This Your New Mac (remembers settings from previous Mac)

First time Mac owner: if first ever Mac set Location services, Analytics, Screen Time, Enable Ask Siri ( it is not necessary to set FileVault Disk Encryption)

Set up Touch ID: add fingerprint/s

Restart Mac: Click on apple menu ❯ Restart
