Troubleshoot

Restart the Mac to apply fix: Allow MacOS to properly fix a fault for you by restarting it. Click on Apple menu then click Restart

Turn on Activity Monitor to see the impact of apps on Mac performance: Activity Monitor – Finder ❯ Applications ❯ Utilities folder double click on ‘Activity Monitor’ (or Command + Shift + U)

View Activity Monitor in the Dock: To enable viewing in the Dock in Activity Monitor go to View > Dock Icon, then select the option you want to view

Repair an app: Finder ❯ Application folder ❯ select app and click Modify then Repair

Reinstall a faulty app: Uninstall then reinstall an app. Check that there is a clear process to download and reinstall (and license information is available if required). To uninstall: drag and drop the app over the Trash (looks like a bin) then reinstall either through Apps or via the webpage in a browser

Search Google for Mac solutions: type most important word first. Consider replacing Mac if over 5 years old. For security reasons replace if the operating system is no longer supported – typically when over 7 years old
