Basic human interface elements

List of basic human interface elements: Status bar, Home Screen (short cuts to apps and widgets), App Screen (storage area for apps), Favourites tray, Navigation bar and Recent apps

Status bar: Shows device status information in small icons at the top of the screen – includes the time, mobile provider’s signal strength, battery status, and notification icons

Home Screen: It is the starting point to access apps and widgets on your phone or tablet. App icons are short cuts to installed apps installed on your phone or tablet. Press or tap the home button to see the Home Screen.

App screen: Contains the apps that come pre-installed on your device as well as apps that you download from the Play store. You can open or search for applications from the apps screen

Favourites Tray: The line of icons at the bottom of every Home Screen

Navigation bar: How you navigate your device. It has: Recent apps (three vertical lines, Home (a circle) and Back (an arrow)

Recent apps: Allows you to switch back and forth between open apps. Tap the Recent apps icon on the navigation bar – swipe between the small app windows and tap on one to open, or swipe up to close. Tap the ‘Close all’ button to close all open apps
