Five main touch screen gestures: Tap, Touch and hold, Swipe, Scroll, Zoom
Tap: A quick precise touch, on a specific item on the screen to initiate an action
Touch and hold: A long touch on a specific area of the screen until a response appears. (e.g. touch and hold on an app icon on the Home Screen to reveal the Quick Actions box for that app with useful options including ‘i’ for App info)
Swipe: Also called Slide. Swipe is a steady gentle slide of a finger either vertically (up or down) or horizontally (left or right) to reveal options or perform an action (e.g. swipe up to answer a call or swipe left to delete an email)
Scroll: A quick, one finger flick on the screen – up or down, left or right, to scroll through photos, a webpage or options. The quicker the movement, the faster the information on the screen rolls up or down, left or right. (e.g. scroll quickly through photos in the Google Photos app)
Zoom: A two finger pinch, in or out, to enlarge or reduce what is seen on the screen. This works for webpages and photos
