My Files (Galaxy Store)

Search for a file in My Files: Tap on the magnifying glass top right then type the name of the file. To search inside files and add other filters (Time and Type) expand the Filters option and turn on ‘Search inside files’

See downloaded files in My Files: Open the My Files app and tap on ‘Downloads’. Tap to open a file (go here when you have booked tickets with a QR code that have been downloaded to your phone). Tap on the options dots top right to change the ‘View’ (List or Detailed list or Grid)

Open a file in My Files: Open the My Files app and either tap on a Recent file or open a category of files such as Images, Videos, Audio then tap on a file and the ‘Open with’ window will appear – tap on the app you want to open it with then tap again or tap ‘Always’ (to change the default app go to Settings ❯ Apps ❯ Choose default apps

Share a file via My Files: Open the My Files app and see the different categories of files such as Images, Videos, Audio files and more. If you want to share a file in Documents, tap on ‘Documents’ then touch and hold it to see the tool bar with ‘Share’. Tap on Share then choose email (to attach to an email) or WhatsApp and more

Clear space by removing photos taken on my Samsung that are backed up to Google Drive: Open Google Photos, tap on the account profile icon top right, tap on ‘Free up space’ then tap the ‘Free up XX.XX’ button. (All recently taken photos can still be seen in Google Photos as before, but these are thumbnails. If the phone is not connected to WiFi or mobile internet/mobile data, a photo can’t be edited as it needs to be downloaded first)

Delete unwanted files with My Files: Open the My Files app and tap on the category of files you want to work in. Touch and hold on a file to reveal the Edit screen with the file selected. Tap on more or just tap on ‘Delete’ then ‘Recycle bin’

Empty the Recycle bin in My Files: Files in the Recycle bin are permanently deleted after 30 days. To do this yourself, open the My Files app, slide down to tap on the Recycle bin. Touch and hold to select files and turn on the Edit screen. Tap ‘All’ at the top to select all if wanted. Tap delete at the bottom

Settings options in My Files: Open the My Files app and tap on ‘…’ then tap on ‘Settings’ where you can see Cloud accounts and in File Management allow mobile data to be used to upload photos (rather than waiting for Wifi)
