Manage phone loss

Use ‘Find my phone’ to lock the phone and sign out of Google Account or ‘Factory reset device’: Go to www.google.com/android/find, sign in then select phone and ‘Secure device’ with a message and phone number as needed. This will lock the phone and sign it out of the Google Account. The ‘Factory reset device’ will erase all data but the device’s location will not be available

Block the SIM: Contact mobile provider either by phone or through website and request a block on the number to prevent it being used in a different phone for calls and data. If WhatsApp does not have two-step verification it can also be added to a different phone via the SIM

Get a replacement SIM: Contact mobile provider either by phone or through website and request a new SIM for replacement phone

Get a replacement phone: Set up new phone by inserting and activating the new SIM and signing into the Google Account. The Tomtie Tech Check ensures the main phone is backed up

Inform contacts of phone loss: Let friends and family know by email that you have lost your phone

Away from home precaution: If away from home e.g. on holiday, it is best to take a backup phone with essential apps such as flights and tickets and Google Authenticator set up, with a Pay as you go SIM or low cost SIM such as SMARTY
